Project Description

The un-surveyed area of municipal land North of the Inuit Owned parcel near Sivumugiaq Street, has been identified for a subdivision opportunity to be led by Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA). This area is being targeted as the next growth node in Iqaluit. New housing, commercial spaces, and Institutional buildings are anticipated to develop in this new subdivision. City Staff are seeking community input and collaboration before continuing work on the City’s land development partnership with QIA.

The area encircled below defines the plan area for this project. Your input now will help decide the future of this area. While the project boundary seems well-defined at this stage, we are also interested in learning about the land adjacent and around this project boundary. Your relationship to the land in and outside of this boundary is important to us. For instance, you might have hiking trails, snowmobile trails, berry picking spots or picnic areas, that you would like to preserve. These are all important for the City to understand.
