The Nunavut Recovery Centre is currently being constructed, along with a new road that will provide access. Help the City of Iqaluit name our new street by voting online. We will also be speaking to the Elders in-person, in addition to the online vote.

It is worth noting that the road is part of a broader subdivision plan that would eventually connect north to the Road to Nowhere, as depicted in the diagram. If this subdivision is pursued in the future, the road we are naming now will become a significant road and home to many residents.

In keeping with, and recognizing, the importance of sustaining the Inuktitut language, every attempt must be made to incorporate Inuktitut into the acceptance of new street names. Care must also be taken to ensure chosen names are indicative of the region and incorporate an ease of pronunciation for persons of all cultures.

Alternative names may be put forward by using the “other option”.

Pictured below is a diagram and map showing the new road.
